She has been commissioned for artwork for Marriot and Hilton Hotels, and many other hospitality, corporate or public spaces as well as for private residences. Hughes is a 2013 recipient of an Artists’ Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. She is using these funds to research, explore and combine new oil painting materials that are non-toxic, and to develop techniques of using them in my work to maintain a painterly and expressive style. Hughes is a member of the Women’s Art Resources of Minnesota through which she serves as an artist Mentor.

She currently resides in St. Paul, Minnesota and maintains a studio in the California Building in NE Minneapolis.  She will participate in the fall of 2013 in a group exhibition at Kolman & Pryor Gallery in Minneapolis, and will also have a solo show there in 2014.
