Although there are several art openings throughout the Twin Cities this weekend, the headlining art event is Northern Spark, which will celebrate local, public art while raising awareness about climate change. Looking nationally, Cindy Sherman has a major museum exhibition in Los Angeles, and internationally, the Montreal MURAL Festival begins its 10 day urban art event.
June 11, 2016
The annual all-night festival is here again, taking place June 11th from 9:00pm-5:26am. The theme for both the 2016 and 2017 editions is Climate Chaos | Climate Rising, as art installations, workshops, and events across the Twin Cities will center around the changing landscape of the earth. The festival begins as dusk at the Minneapolis Convention Center and then continues throughout the night, with most of the events occurring in the Minneapolis Mill District. In addition to the art related projects, the night will also consist of talks by climate scientists, political activists, and engineers that all relate to the theme of the festival.
